Common Page Mistakes to Avoid
This page lists common issues that prevent changes from showing correctly, and mistakes that can cause unintended updates.
1. Publishing a Page that is not connected to a Route
A published Page does not appear on your website unless a Route points to it.
If you created a new Page, make sure a Route is set up and published.
2. Confusing internal names with visitor-facing titles
The Page internal name is for your team’s reference in Sanity.
Visitor-facing titles usually come from Section content or SEO fields.
3. Forgetting required fields
Some Sections require certain fields.
If publishing is blocked, open the Section and look for missing required fields.
4. Adding too many Sections
Very long pages can be hard to scan.
If the page feels repetitive, consider consolidating content into fewer Sections.
5. Forgetting to publish
Sanity auto-saves drafts, but it does not auto-publish.
If the live site did not change, check whether the document still has unpublished edits.
6. Editing a Page used by multiple URLs
A Page can be reused.
If multiple Routes reference the same Page, your edits can affect more than one URL.
If you are unsure, check where the Page is referenced before publishing.
