Global Site Settings
Overview
Global Site Settings control site-wide behavior that applies across your Marketplace website. This includes which navigation menus are used, what shows in the header, and what shows in the footer.
Each Marketplace site has a single site-wide settings document that acts as the default configuration. Many pages use these settings automatically, and routes can optionally override parts of the navigation on specific URLs.
What you can control
Global Site Settings commonly control:
- Which header and footer navigation menus are used by default
- Alternate navigation menus for paid media traffic
- Header options like phone and text icons
- Footer options like legal links, logo, and address display
- Default routing for text leads when the header text icon is enabled
Navigation settings
Your site can define multiple navigation slots so the experience is consistent on desktop and mobile.
Common navigation slots include:
- Default header navigation used across the site
- Paid media header navigation used when a visitor arrives with campaign tracking parameters
- Mobile navigation menus for primary actions and additional links
- Footer navigation for desktop and mobile
- Paid media footer navigation for campaign traffic
Header settings
Global Site Settings can control what appears in your header.
Common options include:
- Show a global phone number across the site
- Show location-specific phone numbers on pages that have a clear location context
- Show tap-to-call and tap-to-text icons on mobile
- Choose a default location for text leads from the header
- Show optional header elements such as a location selector, login, or search
Footer settings
Global Site Settings can also control footer behavior.
Common options include:
- Two footer legal links (often Terms of Use and Privacy Policy)
- Optional footer logo override
- Optional address display in the footer, including choosing which location to show
How these settings are used
These settings are applied automatically across your site. When a Route does not override navigation, your site uses the default header and footer configuration.
If you change Global Site Settings, you should review a few key pages to confirm the experience is correct on:
- Desktop and mobile
- Inventory pages (SRPs and VDPs)
- Location pages
- Campaign landing pages
