How Pages Are Built from Sections
A Page is built from an ordered list of Sections.
Where the page content comes from
A Page’s main content comes from its Sections list.
Each Section is a self-contained block with its own fields, such as:
- Text and headings
- Images or video
- Calls to action (buttons)
- Layout options
- Optional color settings
Common Section groupings
Depending on your Studio setup, Sections are often grouped in the insert menu as:
- Storytelling sections (authored content)
- Extras (special-purpose sections)
- Dynamic sections (data-driven)
Ordering matters
Sections render top to bottom in the exact order shown in the Page.
Reordering Sections changes the flow visitors see.
Sections publish with the Page
Sections are part of the Page document.
When you publish a Page, all its Sections publish together.
Required fields and validation
Some Section fields are required.
If a required field is missing, Sanity will block publishing until it is filled in.
