Chat Integrations
Overview
Chat integrations add messaging and chat widgets to your Marketplace site. This gives shoppers a fast way to ask questions and can drive additional leads from inventory pages and key landing pages.
Chat is typically enabled at the project level. Only one primary chat provider should be enabled for a site at a time.
Supported chat providers
Marketplace commonly supports providers such as:
- Matador
- Podium
The available providers depend on your project configuration.
How chat is enabled
Chat is enabled through a project-level configuration flag. When enabled:
- The provider’s chat script loads on your site.
- Chat entry points appear in the UI based on your site design.
Texting and chat are different
Some sites also support a text-based lead option that routes through a location’s SMS identity.
Key points:
- A chat widget is a provider experience that loads across the site.
- A text lead is typically tied to a specific location and requires an SMS identity value.
Your site can support both, depending on configuration.
What you should prepare
To configure chat, you typically provide:
- Which chat provider you use
- Provider account details
- Any branding or behavior requirements for the widget
What to review after setup
After chat is enabled, review:
- Widget appearance on desktop and mobile
- Availability across key pages (SRPs, VDPs, contact pages)
- Any text lead routing if your site uses a text option
