Phone Numbers, CTAs, and Defaults
Overview
Phone numbers and CTAs are some of the most important site-wide configuration choices because they directly impact lead capture.
Marketplace controls phone and text behavior through a combination of:
- Global Site Settings
- Location configuration (for location-specific contact details)
Phone number display
Your site can show phone numbers in different ways depending on page type.
Global phone number
When enabled, a single phone number is shown across the site.
This is commonly used when:
- You want a consistent main number
- You do not need per-location phone behavior
Location-specific phone number
On pages that represent a specific location context, Marketplace can show a location-specific phone number.
Common examples of location context:
- Vehicle detail pages
- Location detail pages
This is commonly used in multi-location setups so the shopper is encouraged to contact the correct store.
Tap-to-call and tap-to-text actions
On mobile, your site can show icons that allow visitors to:
- Call with one tap
- Text with one tap
Text behavior typically requires:
- A texting phone number to be set
- A default location to be chosen so text leads are routed correctly
CTA links used across the site
Marketplace supports common form and action destinations that can be used in:
- Navigation links
- Content sections
- Inventory CTAs
Common actions include:
- Contact
- Value a trade
- Start a credit application
- Schedule service
- Order parts
The exact set of actions available on your site depends on which products and integrations are enabled.
Footer meta links
Your footer commonly includes two meta links such as:
- Terms of Use
- Privacy Policy
These are configured in Global Site Settings and are shown consistently across the site.
What to review after changes
After changing phone or CTA behavior, review:
- Mobile header behavior on a general content page
- A vehicle detail page
- A location detail page
- Contact and form flows to confirm the correct location and contact routing
